I have made another trailer for Van Helsing II where our amazing voice actor talks about the new features of the game. Trust me, there will be plenty!
I think that these features will really set the game apart from the general ARPGs, as I have never seen anything like Resistance Management in such a game before, for example.
And there will be truckloads of more features:
- The Chimera, a pet that can not only be summoned in combat, but it resides in the Lair and you can send it on hunting missions where it gains XP and collect loot for you
- Lots of cool tower defense maps (Don’t worry, you can skip ’em if you want to)
- New journal with loads of lore and unique, beautiful artworks
- Runecrafting, where you can “disenchant” (sorry for the WoW terminology… I mean dismantle) items and create/boost items
- Artifact forging
- Enchanting, where you can name your items, transmorph your items, and reroll certain enchants among other things
- You can get trophies and put them on a trophy desk to gain cool bonuses
So, I’m pretty excited for the release on May 22, although the release rush on the forums and what not is not something we want to approach sooner ;) But well, it’s a part of the job!
You can pre-order the game at neocoregames.com/store
What a rush at the office…
But a rush worth being in: Van Helsing II just made it into closed beta, and it will be released on April 17!
Pre-order it now and check out the awesomeness of the sequel ;) Here is the official video that I made for this occassion:
the time has finally come to open our second pre-order season. Some of you might already know the drill, some of you might be new, so let me give you a taste of what is ahead of us: last May marked the release of our first Action RPG, The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing, the first of three planned games, a steampunk trilogy set in a gothic-noir universe.
We never would have made it this far without you, at least not as an indie company.
Now the adventure finally continues and we are ready to announce the release date for the second installment in the Van Helsing trilogy, as well as open the pre-order for various supporter packages in various price ranges. There is still tremendous work ahead of us, but we are positive that the game will be released on April 17th with a plenty of amazing features!
And now we ask you once again to show your generous support. It’s quite easy, actually: purchase one of the special packs, and in return we will provide you with pack-exclusive materials as a token of our appreciation. These packs are to support our work and the dedication pays off: the higher the price range, the more exclusive the gift.

Yeah, I have been slacking with the blog posts big time during the past months… The reasons are that I had insanely much stuff to do recently, and my personal life wasn’t too lifting either. Combining the exam period with the rush that began towards the release of Van Helsing II while accepting an internship at a local newspaper – does not leave you with an abundance of free time.
Nevertheless, here is my latest work, a “techvideo” that introduces the latest additional feature of Van Helsing II, the Lair Beast, better known as the Chimera. I put the term “techvideo” in quotes since this is really not a tech video although it started out as one. I have recorded the model from our editor, then I recorded the wireframes as well with green screen and combined the two with some masking & chroma keying. I used Vegas (as usual) and Adobe AE for this, and boy it looked awesome. Nevertheless we have scrapped this version since some viewers could think that wireframes are a graphic bug or something. Therefore the final version was just a showcase of the model in action in combination with some gameplay elements.
Recording the gameplay was fun since we had to edit the config files for the monsters to work and I removed some annoying skills from their ability list so they will look nice in the video :) Also, this vid features our new logo animation for the game, and I think that we have nailed it.
Here is the official video and the previous version with a bonus scene and some added wireframes – note that the music is a placeholder and there are several sounds missing from that one as I get the sound mixed only for the final release of a video :)
It’s been three years since I wrote my first post on this blog. Many things have changed since then, but for some mysterious reason I am still writing posts, and that’s what matters…right?
World of Warcraft came and went on (I think it will come back though… ;), and now I’m working with forums and videos about Van Helsing. In fact, I finished the last video during the past week, as we added another new class to our ARPG. The community is still growing and growing (we are past 254K likes on Facebook), and I am joining more and more gaming communities over time. The last one I joined was Raptr, which seemed kinda useless for me at first, but then the many cool things got me, and I recognized that it has a very useful side as well. Feel free to follow me there to get informed about interesting gaming-related stuff.
Also, we are still live streaming Van Helsing every Thursday, with an increasing success. However, last week there were some issues… Mr. Murphy’s spirit was lingering in the office during the entire stream. Before going live, we played for more than a hour and everything went perfect. But the moment I hit the “STREAM” button, everything went wrong on the client side. Thankfully, we could still deal with the issues and continue the stream, but it wasn’t a stress relief at all :/
I’ll end this post with the trailer I made last week, and a link to one of our live streams, where you can get a better insight on our game :)
Tank, I need an exit… Fast!
This is one of the rare moments when a Domovoy could steal my seat after I installed a fun screensaver on both of my work PCs. I just finished the beginning and the end of the new video about the Thaumaturge class DLC that will be released this Thursday on Steam. Why am I leaving out the middle? Well, I’m waiting for the sound file from our voice actor, who will talk about some of the nifty things that a Thaumaturge can do. Without it, I can only guess what will happen in the video, so all I can do is record some scenes and hope for the best ;). I must state though that I wrote the draft of the script already, so I have some idea about the happenings in the future video.
Another awesome thing is that I get the music composed on request. Yesterday I told that I need an 1:40 long piece with a faster part at the ending and some rhythm for the logos, and today it got delivered. Stuff like this will really make my work easier, as I edited the music of the previous video and as I’m not an audio editing expert, it was a baseball bat to the nuts.
Anyways, let’s hope for the best (i.e. I’ll be ready with the new video by Thursday afternoon), and keep on recording :)
By the way, you can win a free copy of the DLC, just follow the instructions here :)
This was the thing that I was struggling with during the past few days… The DLC will be out next week, be sure to check it out:)
Also, today (tonight in Hungary) at 11AM PDT, we will stream again with my co-worker, Valkyrie. We’ll do some multiplayer ownage, and at the end we will show the new class DLC along with the trailer. Tune in for the stream at twitch.tv/neocoregames !
Thankfully, I made a pretty nice video about the new class of our Van Helsing game yesterday. I’ll link it ASAP when it gets released, so stay tuned. We will release the new class (and some other stuff) as a paid DLC for a reasonable price, and another similar one will follow it.
It’s a great opportunity to make these trailers and other videos, since I learn a lot about editing on the run :)
Another thing to note is that the next stream will be held at the regular time, Thursday at 10AM Pacific Time. Requests for more frequent streams were noted, so there might be an other day assigned for streaming.
