Hunter hotfixes

  • Kill Command should now always consume the Resistance is Futile! buff, regardless of whether the target has Hunter’s Mark or not.
  • Reverted a bug fix that caused Bombardment to be consumed by the next Multi-Shot. Fixing this bug proved to be a significant dps loss, so Bombardment once again lasts for its full 6 second duration regardless of the number of Multi-Shot casts. The tooltip will be updated in a future patch to reflect that this change is intended.

Bluepost on the Hunter hotfix

Pretty long wall of text, so I cut it in half, rest is below the link. There are some parts what sound just funny to me…sigh. Since when do aspects trigger the GCD? God. I’ve pointed out the flaws in the bluepost, forgive me for that if you do not agree.

Recent hunter hotfixes
That’s mostly on target, but there’s a little more to it. We actually had a few different goals with these hotfixes. While it’s true that we wanted to reduce Marksmanship burst in PvP (Rofl, warrior burst, anyone?), that’s only part of the story; we equally wanted to make Survival and Beast mastery more attractive choices in PvE. That involved bringing Marksmanship damage down a bit in fights where little or no movement is required, and reducing the amount of Aimed Shot spam once mobs drop below 80%. (We’ll still spam it under 80%. Aimed > 2 Arcane aswell as 1 Chimera)

Hotfix is active

  • Aimed Shot damage has been decreased to approximately 160% weapon damage (at level 80+), down from 200%.
  • Aspect of the Hawk now provides 2000 attack power at level 85.

Thankfully Zeherah was super quick with the uptade of, and I have got some interesting results:

24700 DPS with Hardcasting Aimed shot.
24867 DPS with Hardcasting Aimed with less priority than Chimera Shot.
~ Same DPS (+5.67) with hardcasting only when Careful Aim is active.

Still, many people say at WHU, and personally, I think aswell that hardcasting still will be the best, even though the above calculations show 167 DPS difference.

But time for the more interesting news. BM final dps came out at 25470, which is a 603 DPS increase with my gear. Lol. Of course I thought that the Aspect buff will affect BM greatly, but I did not count on this much damage improvement. Anyways, I will test these on live aswell.

Also, I have played with BM a bit on the spreadsheet, and I tried a very slight mastery over haste reforge system (I reverted all haste->mastery reforges), but the results were nearly the same, it was a 15.7 DPS loss.

UPDATE: I tried it out, and I couldn’t top MM with BM, but I am sure that the problem is in me, I haven’t played BM PvE since ages and I saw myself getting better and better every try. Aimed Shot crits weren’t at high (50k-ish max.) unbuffed, but still, I did very good dps with it. (Hardcasting with some more priority on Chimera.)

Okay, I know it’s not a big nerf at all, and I’m happy with the aspect change, but these kind of fast changes and reverts make me feel that they dont care about us too much… Also, they mentioned this change before in a blue post, so we could count on it, and yeah, Aimed Shot was pretty OP.
But still, they do changes like this…

instead of fixing these damn bugs:

  • If Fire! procs while casting Aimed Shot, both Aimed Shots will be free.
    (Fix this and don’t nerf the entire shot TBH)
  • Deterrence cannot be used when disarmed. (They promised this in 4.0.6)
  • Master’s Call does nothing when in LoS but CD goes away.
  • Scatter Shot does NOT stop autoshot.
  • Tranq, Multi, Silence shot has still 35 yard range. Did they forget it or wtf?
  • Freeze Trap is on the spell pene list but spellpen does absolutely nothing with the trap. (This is actually since a long time ago)
  • And my ?*!$#ing pet has STILL 5k HP when I call it so it can be oneshotted by a friggin lvl 80 mob.
  • Ice trap is still on an uselessly big CD but we can’t double trap anymore.

So pretty please WAKE the fk up and do as intended. Thanks.

Pet Hotfixes

Yesterday we got two small hotfixes:

  • Silithid Swarmers are now tamable by hunters.
  • Hunter pets that changed pet families prior to patch 4.0.3 will no longer retain their previous talents on top of the new Cataclysm pet talents. Hunters will have to untalent their pets to pick up this correction.
