Mixed feelings

As I mentioned it earlier, me and my friend are quite psyched about the upcoming WoW expansion. However, in the last couple weeks there were some changes that I feel quite unhappy about. The first of this was the announcement about paying for instant lvl 90 characters. I get it that after a while it is tedious to level up a character, and I know how annoying can it get. Still, I do not like that my favourite game is heading towards the microtransactional way. Leveling is a core element of any RPG, and it should not be overridden with a quick purchase.

On the more positive side, they made this announcement:

We are looking at reducing or completely removing baseline Resilience, but it’s a big change and requires other larger changes to go with it. Changes that big we tend to wait until an expansion (Warlords) to make – as well as a lot of testing and feedback from y’all during beta. We do have some changes with Season 15, but they won’t be a huge departure from where we’re already at, mainly tweaks to existing numbers.

Lore has made a couple posts on PvP Power/gear on the Arena forum so make sure you read these too:

And this is awesome! Once more we can oneshot blue geared, freshly dinged people and cause much frustration in the long-dead outdoor PvP! Yeah, it’s the little things in life that make you happy…

Jumping back to the negative side, it seems that WoD won’t have a boxed release, it will only be available for online purchase. This does not bother me all that much, but I’d miss those well-designed boxes full of artworks.

But despite all this, I am sure that WoW will never be a bad game, even with Ghostcrawler leaving ;) On the serious side, I don’t get why everyone was so happy about him leaving and starting to work for Riot. The well-known faces of Blizzard leaving the company is never good to see – for me at least. All in all, I think I’ll have another swing at the game in a couple weeks and see what it has to offer for me.

4.3.2 is finally out

  • Aspect of the Hawk now grants roughly 35% more attack power.
  • Deterrence now also reduces damage taken by 30% while active.
  • Black Arrow now ticks every 2 seconds for 20 seconds, as opposed to every 3 seconds for 15 seconds. The total damage dealt by the ability is unchanged.
  • Lock and Load no longer benefits Arcane Shot, nor is it consumed by Arcane Shot.

The interesting parts are above :) Thank God they extended BA duration, it was a good choice (although I hate SV as a spec). In addition, there is a slight change on Vial of the Shadows, where its damage is lowered but its proc rate is increased to reduce PvP burst… too bad :/ Aaaaaaaaand…. NO MORE mature language filter bugs! Thanks in the names of many-many dirty-mouth players.

Also, I’ve managed to finish my AQ40 rep grind, and I finally acquired full T 2.5! My guild is progressing as well, we killed Ultraxion and Yorsahj on hardmode finally. (Too bad that I wasnt there on the Yorsahj kill, and the HC tier token dropped, of course.

I’ve been doing some PvP as well lately, both on rogue/shaman/hunter, and we kinda enjoyed ganking stuff in SW, since we managed to find some places where are no guards >:) You may have noticed that the post updates are not too good these days, and that is because I came home where I only have the shittiest PC ever. In addition, I’ll go to a ski trip on Saturday, but that does not mean I’m not gonna stay tuned :)

Here is a video about the crappy PC I have to play with:

Ok, I know that everyone is talking about this _indeed_ awesome feature of the next content patch. I think I am the happiest about this implementation. I always wanted to raid in my full T1 set which I got back then. But I feared that I can’t use Rhok’delar in the future, since it’s a bow, and the BIS ranged weapon probably won’t be a bow in the next patch. Also nowadays if we skip the HC Rag bow which is unreachable for the masses, there are crossbows mainly.

But then I read this:

  • You cannot change weapon or armor types. So, mutilate rogues cannot use Chromatically Tempered Sword, DKs cannot look like druids.
  • However, guns, bows, and crossbows are an exception to the rule.

Awesome! Now I only need to get the Bloodfang helm for my rogue and I’m all set! Though I don’t know yet if I’m gonna use the T2 or… the dungeon set 2 which is unobtainable atm, and even back then, it was a PAIN to get it. For example you needed a quest item which you could receive in mail every few days with a few percent droprate….

Bug fixes, Ya, Rly! (PTR)

  • Summoned pets now start with 100 focus, up from 0.

Hunter Bug Fixes

  • Hunters will automatically acquire a new target if the current target dies in the middle of a cast.
  • Aimed Shot and Steady Shot should no longer start casting Auto Shot on a new target when the “Stop Auto Attack” option is enabled.
  • Auto Shot now automatically turns off until reactivated once Freezing Trap is cast on an enemy player.
  • Scatter Shot’s disorient effect should no longer sometimes be broken by the hunter’s Auto Shot.

Blue answer about Traps in PvP

Q: Why do hunter traps continue to be resisted when the hunter is both spell pen capped, and specced 2/2 into Survival Tactics? – Zubzar (North America/ANZ)

A: It’s just a technical limitation. The way the code works, the traps are objects and not part of the player. We can calculate how much damage they should do based on player stats, but it is currently impossible for them to inherit things like spell pen. Spell Penetration does nothing for your traps. We don’t even have a way to make them always hit, because then they would always hit, even against a stealthed rogue for instance (which we’re sure is a solution hunters would be perfectly happy with). We know it’s not a very satisfying answer, but at the end of the day, World of Warcraft is a piece of software and given that we have some of the best programmers in the industry working on it, there aren’t any simple solutions that are going to fix this problem in the short term. It is absolutely a problem though and we do want to fix it.

So yeah, we’ll still rely on our luck when trapping.

Patch 4.1 on PTR – Zul’Aman and Zul’Gurub is back!

As MMO-champion announced, these two instances will be back in 4.1 as 5-man HC dungeons, dropping 353 loot aswell as rare mounts.

Yes, we’re proud to annouce that new rare-drop Raptor, Tiger and Warbear mount will be available, while the old mounts still have their unique beauty in hand.

Awesome. There will be other interesting stuff, check the link at the top. Ragnaros and Firelands… Mmm.

Also this one seems to be pretty nice. Many people are wondering if these new 5-man HC’s are the beginning of the so-called “Free epix” thingy again. Personally, I don’t think so.

Incoming awesomeness! I like these places very much, so I’m awaiting more patch notes. Be sure to check MMOchamp regularly :)

Bluepost on the Hunter hotfix

Pretty long wall of text, so I cut it in half, rest is below the link. There are some parts what sound just funny to me…sigh. Since when do aspects trigger the GCD? God. I’ve pointed out the flaws in the bluepost, forgive me for that if you do not agree.

Recent hunter hotfixes
That’s mostly on target, but there’s a little more to it. We actually had a few different goals with these hotfixes. While it’s true that we wanted to reduce Marksmanship burst in PvP (Rofl, warrior burst, anyone?), that’s only part of the story; we equally wanted to make Survival and Beast mastery more attractive choices in PvE. That involved bringing Marksmanship damage down a bit in fights where little or no movement is required, and reducing the amount of Aimed Shot spam once mobs drop below 80%. (We’ll still spam it under 80%. Aimed > 2 Arcane aswell as 1 Chimera)
